At least in Ukraine. Well, in ex-USSR Dynamo was the only one team who 3 times took a Europe Cup of Country Cups (this competition does not exist anymore, only Europe champion cup and UEFA) and 3 times participated into semi-final. No any other team did it. There was a joke : "USSR foot team is Dynamo Kyiv spoiled by the footballists from other teams". :))) However there was an accident much less known by the fans and even sport community. So-called " Match of death". It happened during Nazi occupation of Kyiv. Dynamo Kyiv won a match against Luftwaffe team and footballists were shot for this. There is a monument dedicated to this event. Football is very popular now as well and if you are fan of the foot, just take the T'short, shirts and crosses and welcome to play. There are plenty of sport yards and green yards in numerous parks and forests. After Ukraine's National Soccer team entered into the quarter final of FIFA World Championship in Germany last year and lost to it to no one but THE Champion, Ukrainian soccer team became the National Hero and it's rating sky-rocketed :) Anyway, mark your calendar for 2012 as the Final of the 2012 European Soccer Championship will take place in Kyiv. meanwhile you enjoy games between main Ukrainian rivals Dynamo Kyiv and Arsenal at the Dynamo Stadium. Dynamo Kyiv. Dynamo Kyiv have two stadiums. The home ground ( Lobanovsky Stadium) is situated a right turn from Independence Square. The republic stadium is a 15 minute walk away. Tickets to watch the game are very cheap. I saw Dynamo Kyiv v Poltava in march and the tickets price range was between Ј2.00 and Ј5.00. They are very cheap. Both stadiums are not what you call big when you see the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United Stadiums so even if you get the cheap seats you still have a very good view of the match. The Dynamo Kyiv souvenier shop is very small and expensive.... three customers looking around the gift shop but have difficulty walking around. it is that small. Souveniers can be bnought cheaper at The independence Square. They have some talented East european players that may be unheard of in comparison to the ones in better known leagues, but they play with passion that wins them league titles and endlessly qualifies them for the Champions league. I saw them play Juventus and give them a real scare almost going away with a win. They lost 2-1 but it was an exciting match to watch as well as being very cold. Cost me 10 Hryvnia(about Ј1.25 at the time) Stadium was cold with no canopy protection - make sure you're well wrapped during the winter months.
